About

Many of the nearly 80 BIC congregations in Malawi struggle without adequate meeting places.

Most church buildings are built without a proper concrete foundation and use only mud for mortar between the bricks. In addition, their roofs are constructed of poles and grass. Structures like this do not last very long, and many collapse within 2-3 years, a big setback for congregations. Rebuilding can take several years, and they become discouraged with no place to meet.

More durable buildings could solve this issue. However, materials like cement and sheet metal roofing are very expensive by local economic standards.

This project aims to help Malawian congregations by providing better building materials.

A well-built church structure provides a reliable place to meet and worship in both hot and stormy weather. It also enables the congregation to move beyond constantly struggling to maintain a poorly built structure. Relieving this pressure can empower them to move toward growing as a congregation through discipleship and focused outreach.

By contributing to the Church Buildings in Malawi project, you will partner with BIC Malawi to help congregations build a church, allowing them to meet and worship in a safe, lasting structure.
